Wealthy people like Bill Gates and Oprah Winfrey, among others receive a lot of commendation for sharing their wealth. When God blesses us financially (it is He who gives you the power, ability, opportunities, etc, to make wealth), He does it so that we can be a blessing to others. Givers are always hailed and hoarders despised!
The book of Matthew describes the Good News of the kingdom of God, a.k.a the Gospel in many instances as something more precious than wealth, treasure and precious stones!
In one instance he writes “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Matthew 13:44.
Then, “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it. Matthew 13:45-46
He is saying knowing Jesus and His salvation is worth more than anything in the world! If so then we must not hoard this priceless find but share with others.
Whereas the wealth we make in this life and share with others can only serve us or be useful only in this life, the wealth of knowing Christ and belonging to Him will serve us well both here and in eternity.
Knowing Jesus makes us richer than any amount of money can, and those of us who have Him and His salvation should freely and gleefully share this wealth, whatever it takes. Do not let shyness, shame or fear stop you. Let us always be on the lookout for opportunities to share this treasure. The Good News is truly worth sharing! Help save one more for Jesus!
