We All Have Issues!
Simon invited Jesus into his home for a feast. A sinful woman, clearly overwhelmed by Jesus' love and teaching showed up, wept on Jesus' feet, wiped them with her hair and poured expensive perfume on his feet. The host, obviously disgusted by the woman had an interesting reaction:
"When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”" Luke 7:39
Wow!!! How many times have we looked at people and thought same or similar. The fact that you do not dress a certain way, look a certain way, talk a certain way does not mean you have no issues or shortcomings. Though you look so well put together, you do not really have it together.
The good news is though we are ALL imperfect, God loves us. He expects that we will extend the same love and consideration to our fellow imperfect sisters and brothers. We are the conduits of His love so we cannot afford to look down on people we think are imperfect, for if we do so we miss an opportunity to demonstrate the love of God to them.
Let us learn to make allowances for eachother. In the same way you would want grace to be extended to you when you fail to make the mark, extend same to the next person. Be quick to forgive and let go because you will also want to be forgiven when you offend.
Anytime you are tempted to get on your high horse and think or talk like Simon, remember that you too are not perfect and you too are a sinner saved by grace and still being molded by Jesus to perfection. You have not arrived yet. Have a blessed day.
