"Unmoved" mountains

There are two songs I love though they send chills down my spine every now and then. They are "Trust in You" by Lauren Daigle and "Even If" by Mercy Me.

The chorus of the first one says, "When You don't move the mountains I'm needing You to move; When You don't part the waters; I wish I could walk through

When You don't give the answers; As I cry out to You; ...I will trust in you". The second song says; "...But God, when You choose to leave mountains unmovable; Oh give me the strength to be able to sing, it is well with my soul"

Let us be honest, we all like the mountain-moving, sea-parting, prayer-answering God, the manna-and-water-from-a-rock providing God; the God of the lions' den and the God who saves in the fire. When we face crises, we use scriptures in which God moved mightily to reassure ourselves that God will do same for us. We remind God of the things He did for those in the bible and for people we know and ask Him to do same for us.

We do not enjoy the God who says no; the God who refuses to remove the thorn in our side. It is hard to wrap our minds around the God who will leave mountains unmoved; we find it hard to accept that He will not do for us the same thing He did for our neighbor. Yes, God can heal, turn water into wine, raise the dead, do profound miracles but we should not presume that because He can, He must or always will.

Sometimes our suffering is also within God's will. "Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator." I Peter 4:19. If it is within God's will to move the mountains in our lives, He will. If it is His will to leave those mountains unmoved, it does not mean He loves us any less.

The fact that you love your children does not mean you will give them everything they asks for. It is for their own good that you withhold some things from them and you do not always explain to them why you said no because they will not really understand anyway.

Sometimes if we focus too much on getting God to move our mountains and part our seas, we will fail to see what He is trying to teach us through the situation. He will either move the mountain or use it. I pray that God will give us enough grace to trust in Him and in His love even when He leaves mountains unmoved.

Blessings.

Love, Lady Monica❤
