'Tis the day after Christmas! Gifts have been unwrapped, some are back to work and normalcy is returning slowly! My kids unwrapped theirs after church on the Christmas day. They bugged me from Christmas Eve but I held my ground and they waited till yesterday.
After the initial two hours of unwrapping, excitement over the gifts waned a bit and they were ready to move on and watch a movie!
What you do with the gifts is my focus here. Some of the gifts you received will definitely hold more value than others. Some you will cherish, some you will toss into your storage, others you will re-gift. John 3:16 tells us God gave us the supreme and ultimate Gift in the form of His only begotten son, Jesus Christ. The value of God's gift indescribable and eternal.
The gift of Jesus Christ (and salvation) is not not of those gifts you can toss or ignore. This Gift has untold benefits but only if you will fully utilize Him. As you "use" the Gift more; as you build a deeper relationship with Him; as you become more familiar with Him His value in your life increases. Unlike the value of material gifts, Jesus' value never depreciates but always appreciates!
We all frown on re-gifting right? Well, it is totally ok to re-gift Jesus. There is enough of Him to go around. The Bible encourages us and commands us to share Him with others. Matthew 10:8b says "... freely ye have received, freely give.". The Great Commission is a command to go into all the world and share the gospel of Jesus Christ! (Matthew 28:19).
So make a decision to fully enjoy the Gift of Jesus Christ but most importantly, determine to re-gift Him!!
