The Day of Trouble
"And call on Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor Me.” Psalm 50:15
What an assurance! What comforting words! We have all had bad days, worse days and absolute horrible days. If you have not yet experienced such a day or days, you will. Such is life. The day(s) of trouble can leave us perplexed, scared and worried. We may feel our world has come to an end and no one can help us. We all handle troubling times differently: bundle up and hide away, binge eat, call friends to lament, pray, run away or just give up.
God gives us the perfect way to handle such situations. He encourages to call on Him in the day(s) of trouble. Why? Because He cares for us; He is reliable and He wants to be good to us. He promises that He WILL deliver us. It is a sure and certain promise. Numbers 23:19 says God is not a man that He should lie. He does not say maybe He will rescue us or He will think about rescuing us. He says He definitely will rescue us if we call on Him on that day.
It is in God's nature to help us and do good to us. He will bring us help, salvation and deliverance for His glory and for His name's sake.
The next time you find yourself between a rock and a hard place; between the devil and the deep blue sea, do not curl up and die, do not lament to people who are powerless to help you. Cry out to the all powerful God who promises us. No storm is too dark, no mountain is to high, no sorrow is too deep for Him to overcome to reach you. He can and He will rescue you.
