The Challenge

Picture the scene: God is sitting in court, full of splendor. The angels present themselves before him. Satan saunters in too and God engages him in a conversation.

"Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?” Job 1:8

Of course Satan sneers and tells God in no uncertain terms than Job is all that because of the blessings he gets from God. He further challenges God to take away all Job has and see if he will still remain faithful! God gives Satan the ok to do just that!

God practically handed over Job to Satan to test. God knew Job's heart and knew Job's faith would not fail no matter how hard the enemy came at him. Satan was sure that Job would fail, reject God and completely walk away from Him. Perhaps his arrogance came from the fact that he had succeeded with Adam.

When his first test failed, God pushed Satan to try again. The adversary thought he had it all figured out and was sure of a win once he touched Job's skin. He wanted to prove to God that Job was a fair weather believer. As long as God was blessing him and protecting him Job would do anything for God. Take away all these perks and Job would reject God. Well, Job did not.

Can God count on you? Can He brag about you like He did about Job? Are you a fair weather believer or a believer for all seasons? Whatever God gave Job, it pales in comparison to what He gave us. God gave us His son who sacrificed His life to save us. When Jesus ascended to Heaven, God gave us the Holy Spirit to help us live victoriously! With His help, we can live as blameless and upright people who fear God and shun evil. With His help, we can have unshakable faith too.

If God has to testify about you, what will He say? Seriously.

Blessings!

Love, Lady Monica ❤
