"When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”" Matthew 8:1-2 . The audacity of a leper!
The more famous lepers who were healed by Jesus did not dare come close to Him. Those ten lepers shouted to Jesus from afar for their healing. Not this leper. He saw the crowd, he knew that being a leper did not entitle him to come among crowds of people, he knew the backlash he could get for such a bold, unthinkable move, yet he decided to take a chance. He was not even sure if Jesus would heal him for he said "...“Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”" Matthew 8:2. He took a chance on Jesus' compassion. What if Jesus said no but what if He said yes?
Maybe it is time for you and I to stop looking at all the maybe nots and start thinking maybe yes. It is time for us to stop limiting ourselves based on our race, color, gender, accent, education level, etc and venture into some hitherto avoided territories.
If we let them, fear, anxiety, family backgrounds, societal expectations and norms will stop us from obtaining what belongs to us. The leper risked all and received a second chance at life-to be integrated back into his community and live a regular life.
What are you willing to risk to get to your next level? How badly do you want that job? That promotion? That business opportunity? Let us break through some walls and shatter some glass ceilings! God will help us.
Love, Lady Monica ❤
