Sweet & Sour

I am not talking about the sauce in the Chinese restaurant. Life can be sweet sometimes and sour other times. We (will) all experience good times and bad in this long journey called life. Sometimes the sour times last longer than we expect and of course when the sweet times are extended we have no complaints. As a matter of fact life is like the ebb and flow of a tide- it flows in highs and lows.

Job experienced a low period that seemed to last forever. In one swoop fell he lost almost everything he had-possessions and offspring. While trying to wrap his mind around this disaster of epic proportions, his better half urged him to end it all by cursing God. She did not understand why Job's life could be worth living under such dire circumstances. To this Job responded "...“You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” In all this, Job did not sin in what he said." Job 2:10

Eventually as this calamitous period seemed unending, Job became resentful towards God. That may happen to all of us when the deliverance of God seems to delay and anxiety begins to set it. In the end of course God questioned Job, he repented and God restored him.

The Bible admonishes us to give thanks in ALL things and all situations. This is a posture of trust and a confirmation that God knows what He is doing and will let it all work out for our good. Through David's afflictions he said of God "You are good, and what you do is good;..." Psalm 119:68. Indeed He is a good God and will come through for us.

Let us rejoice in the sweet times and rejoice (hard, I know) in the sour times too, then "wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord." Psalms 27:14.

Blessings.

Love,

Lady Monica❤
