Sharing Is Caring

Sharing is caring is a cliché worth repeating. As Christians we are called to a life of service, where we share our money, other possessions, resources, our time and ourselves with others. We must extend a hand of love and kindness to those who have less than we have. Words of encouragement are great but words accompanied by action are even greater.

In drawing a correlation between faith and works James used this example, "Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?" James 2:15‭-‬16.

Over the weekend I led a group of women from church to serve at the Day of Hope, an event organized by Hope For Worcester. It brings various people in the community together "to care for the community" by giving out groceries, shoes, free hair cuts, food, healthcare etc, as well as offer prayers and a listening ear. Some of my women left their little babies/children at home, some came to the park straight from work, others came before going to work and some came with their babies and young children. Some of these women are dealing with their own issues-sicknesses, bereavement, financial upheavals but they laid it all aside to come and share with others. We were there to share our time, expertise, skills, gifts and smiles to gladden the hearts of those not as fortunate as us.

Isaiah 58 tells us that God values selfless service above empty religious rituals. Yes, let us continue to pray, study the word, congregate in church to fellowship, engage in fasting but the cherry on top is serving others. For His three and a half years of ministry our Savior served in humility and love.

Let us not get comfortable in our churches as we fit ourselves for heaven. Love is action and service is love. Let us be quick to extend a helping hand whenever we can and even when it is inconvenient.

"...and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday." Isaiah 58:10. Selah.

Blessings.

Love,

Lady Monica.❤
