Psalm 119.50 “This is my comfort in my affliction, that Your word has revived me.”
We all have those moments; those days when things just look down or bleak! We hunch our shoulders because standing tall just is not easy. In such moments, it is hard to smile and we furrow our brows without even knowing. Even the usual encouraging words from our well meaning friends sound cliche and hollow.
We just need something more to revive us and snap our heads up. David found the perfect formula! The word of God! The living and active word of God revives.
The scriptures are not just words! They are God-breathed, spirit filled and they contain power! They give life and they are truth. My husband likes to say "for every situation there is a scripture!" Here are a few to lift up your countenance and revive you again!
"What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?" Romans 8:31-32
“I, yes I, am the one who comforts you. So why are you afraid of mere humans, who wither like the grass and disappear?
The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. Psalms 34:17-18
The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time. Psalms 34:19
“What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins ? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows. Luke 12:6-7
God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Psalms 46:1
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; Psalms 23:6a
There you have them. These are just a few to do more than pep you up. Receive them, believe and internalize them; let these words encourage, comfort and revive you again.
