Pray for Someone. Seriously!

We Christians love to make promises of praying for others. Nothing rolls off our tongues easier than "I'm praying for you" and "I'm standing with you in prayer". I wonder if many of us truly do. There are so many around us who need our prayers.

Prayers give comfort, hope, encouragement and lifts people's spirits up.

Every true Christian knows there is power in prayer.

A few weeks ago I gathered a number of women to go pray for one of our sisters who had had surgery and was in pain. The surgery site was leaking "like a faucet", her words. We spent a bit of time with her and prayed as earnestly as we could for her, said our goodbyes and went home. The next day she texted to say the flow stopped after we prayed for her and left!!!

Prayer works!

In 2 Corinthians 1:10-11, Paul told the people of Corinth about how God had delivered them from a deadly peril and would continue to deliver them ".... as you help us by your prayers...". As they interceded for Paul and his team of missionaries, God used those prayers to keep delivering them.

John Wesley is credited with the saying that (I paraphrase): it seems God will not intervene in the affairs of men unless someone prays. Prayer is a free gift that is more valuable than any gift you can give to anyone. Everyone needs prayer whether facing a tragedy, need to take a decision, afraid, sick, feeling helpless or hopeless and even in everyday living.

Jesus Christ is still praying for us.

After all He did for us, making the ultimate sacrifice to die for our salvation and to guarantee us eternal life. He is not in heaven chilling, twiddling His thumbs eating, sleeping and just watching us. The Bible says "...Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us." Romans 8:34

Let us not be selfish with prayer, rather let us share the gift of prayer freely.

We are mandated as Christians to love one another and one way we can express that love is through praying one for another. So next time you promise to pray for someone, pray. Seriously.

Blessings.

Love,

Lady Monica
