MercY, Lord

I have heard some say "favor is not fair" and they are right. The Bible is full of many instances where God showed favor or exceedingly blessed people who ordinarily would not or should not qualify for such, in our human estimation. Liars, cheats, murderers, adulterers, whores, heathens, etc. God is sovereign and just. His purposes span generations, bigger than we can imagine and He keeps moving pieces around to establish His plan. He is not influenced by our works, for if that were so then His sovereignty will be in question. He chose Jacob over Esau and chose Isaac over Ishmael. He is God, He can do that and no one can accuse Him of being partial.

"For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy." Romans 9:15‭-‬16

It excites me and it should excite you too that God does not bless us or shows us mercy based on our works or efforts. For what could you and I possibly do or give to induce God's blessings? Even our righteousness appears as filthy rags before Him. Our best and most excellent efforts amount to nothing before Him. He made you and I and all things seen and unseen belong to Him.

Yes, we should continue to pursue righteousness; we should work hard with the help of the Holy Spirit to be more like Christ each day; we should obey His commands; we should give generously to further the work of the kingdom. We should do all of these not to bribe God but just because we love Him and value His gift of salvation.

Most importantly it is my prayer that we will be candidates for His mercy, that He will show us uncommon, unmerited favor. May He choose to have mercy of you and I today and always.

Blessings.

Love,

Lady Monica.❣❣
