She had waited for years to have one to call her own. She had held many babies, kissed them, cuddled them, blessed them but none was hers. She had resigned herself to the fact that she was not meant to be a mother. She finally got it and then one day out of the blue she started experiencing morning sickness. What a shock! yes! She was pregnant with one special child.
Just when she thought it was over; that it was impossible; that the die was cast; that God could not do it, suddenly it happened for her. The Bible says for five months, Elizabeth was in seclusion, I believe just brooding over the miracle of epic proportions she had received. “The Lord has done this for me,” she said. “In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.” Luke 1:25 NIV.
That sums up how she had been feeling all those years. She felt disgraced. She felt miserable. It must have taken everything in her to keep going to the temple to perform whatever her duties were alongside her husband; remaining faithful "...and observing all the Lord's commands and decrees blamelessly".
Listen, I pray that God will remove that thing that makes you feel bad; that issue that makes you feel disgraced, that makes it difficult for you to even go hang our with your friends. He is about to take away that situation that makes you hide, that makes you feel unworthy and unfavored. The Lord will cause you to sing again; He is about to put a new song in your mouth! Your miracle is coming, just remain faithful!
