A parable is told in Luke 16 about a rich man and Lazarus. It goes like this: “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores." Luke 16:19-21.
How come a rich man who lived in luxury everyday could not do more to help the poor beggar?. Perhaps he thought he did not owe Lazarus anything and the latter should be happy to even be allowed to sit at his gate. Maybe he thought the beggar should be lucky to get crumbs from his table and a few coins from his equally rich friends as they came over for visits. That should be enough for Lazarus.
The rich man could certainly have done more yet he chose to do just enough. How about you? When it comes to helping people with the resources God has given you, do you do just enough or you go the extra mile? How do you approach service to God? Do you go all out to serve Him in your church or you do just enough? Examine your personal relationship with God too! Do you pursue Him with your whole heart, body and soul or do you do just enough?
I just want you to think about how you are doing life as a child of God and make changes where you must. Honestly, God deserves more than just enough. He supplies breath for our lungs! Selah!
