Over the weekend, I had a conversation with one of my girls about sin, choices and the need to be on guard. She made reference to the tricky nature of sin and how it can sneak up on you. Sin crouches.
That took me to a conversation between Cain and God in Genesis 4, after the former killed his little brother Abel because God accepted Abel's sacrifice and rejected Cain's. God said to him "...But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”". Sin crouches!
Crouch means to "adopt a position where the knees are bent and the upper body is brought forward and down, sometimes to avoid detection." A person takes this position, when he wants to sneak up on you, pounce on you and grab you when you least expect it.
Sin is like that. It is sneaky, tricky and can drown you if you are not careful. All sin is looking for is a little space and it will sneak in and wreak havoc on you. Cain's jealousy and envy led him down a murderous path. We must watch our choices, our thoughts and actions too.
Sin does not knock or give you advanced notice. It lurks around waiting for the door to open a crack then it will push its way in. May God give us all a keen sense of what is right and wrong. Let us allow the Holy Ghost to influence our choices so we thwart sin's desire to have us!
Love, Lady Monica ❤
