Here Today...

"Life is short"; we hear that often. The bible says God has given us seventy years, and anything beyond that is just a bonus. Seventy years seem like such a long time but as you grow older and the body becomes weaker, you realize that it is not so long after all.

The Psalmist David, always practical, described our lives in this manner, "The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more." Psalm 103:15‭-‬16. He captures the brevity of life beautifully. There is a time for flourishing, in our youth and our active years and then a time for the blowing away when we are no more. Here today, gone tomorrow, pretty much. Every time I attend a funeral I soberly ask myself "what is man?" We will all end up in a wooden box and placed six feet under the ground.

Having at the back of our minds that life is short, how then should we live? We should first remember our maker and seek Him while He can still be found. We should make the best of every moment, enjoy our successes and not let our failures keep us down. We should definitely eschew pride, be humble and not think of ourselves more highly than we ought to.

We should not hold on to offenses, anger and hold people in our hearts as these actually shorten our already short lives! We should be quick to release people from our hearts and live peaceably with all as much as it depends on us. And oh, we should pile up treasures in heaven where no moth will destroy them and no robbers will steal them. When this short life is finally over, an eternal one begins and how you live your short life here will determine where and how you will live the long, unending, eternal one. Selah.

Blessings.

Love, Lady Monica❤
