HAPPY LOVE DAY!
Today is Valentine's day. Faith's school is dubbing it "Friendship Day". Her teachers gave us the option to send cards to school to be distributed to the kids in the class during their friendship party. Here is what is cool about the instructions sent home. The teachers asked that we write our kid's name in the card indicating who it is from but leave the back of the envelopes blank. This is to ensure that no child is left out.
The teachers know that if they ask the kids to address the envelopes to their friends in the class, some will get multiple cards and others will get none! How very considerate of them.
All over the world today people will celebrate love, well, their own definition of love. Chocolates will fly off shelves, the cards are probably all gone, restaurants will fill up, there will be lots of awwwws over gifts received, etc. People will take time to express love to others. There will also be those who will feel lonely, unloved and left out!
Maybe we can do it a little different today. Seek out someone you would ordinarily not pay attention to and show him or her love. Say a kind word, drop off a little gift, share a prayer with them, give a hug. It does not have to be complicated! There are so many around us who are hurting, disillusioned and have no one. In the one day set aside for love, let us celebrate it God's way. He tells us in 1 Corinthians 13:4a "Love is patient, love is kind...". The chapter concludes that at the end of the day when all is said and done "... these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13:13.
Let us take a moment to reflect on the greatest demonstration of love from God to us-sending Christ to die for us-and go out of our way today (and always, of course) to be loving and kind to others.
Happy Valentine's Day!
Love, Lady Mo❤
