Good, Good Father
Chris Tomlin's song "Good Good Father" is a personal favorite. He sings about how good God is, how much He loves us and that God is perfect in all of His ways. It is an encouraging, soothing and joyous tune. It is a reminder that we serve a God who loves us unconditionally and that everything He does for us is motivated by His perfect love for us.
In encouraging us to pray consistently and persistently and not to doubt the ability of God to answer our prayers, Jesus said this: "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!" Matthew 7:11. In other words God will not withhold any good thing from us when we ask it from Him. In fact God does a lot more for us that we can even think of and He does a lot for us that we do not even ask for.
Parents work hard to ensure their children have what they need, some times even what they want, including things others will term as frivolous. So as Jesus said if even we, as selfish as we are, give good things to our children, then we can trust God who is good by nature to do same for us.
Of course the qualifying word there is "good". What is good from God's perspective is not always at par with what we think is good. We are pretty limited in our thinking and He is unlimited in His knowledge. Then of course our motives for asking are not always pure and that also hinders our ability to receive from God. In all of this we can be sure that as we continue to ask, seek and knock in alignment with God's will and His word, He will surely give us that which is good. In the same way, He will withhold from us anything we ask for that will not benefit us, may ruin us or take us out of the course He has designed for our lives.
Trust that God knows what He is doing with you. Trust that God knows best. He desires to bless you with only that which is good. Goodness is His nature and He is perfect in all if His ways.
