God has a purpose for each of us; you've heard it said many times, and He wants to bring you to the point where He can use you the way He wants to. God doesn't use half baked or half cooked. Yes, He will pick you up while you're in an imperfect state, take you through a process and bring you to the point where He can use you.
He'll cook you till you're ready. That means He'll apply some heat, some spices, He'll rub in some salt, a little fire here and there or a lot of fire depending on what He's cooking you for. Think Joseph and Moses.
He'll take you through a series of training programs until your faith is matured, your character is developed, your conviction is sure and you're ready to progress to your next stage. He will take you to school and if you are not ready to advance to the next grade, He might have you repeat a grade till you get it.
Having faced and killed both a lion and a bear, by the time David stood before Saul, he was adequately prepared to handle Goliath. 1 Sam 17:34-36
It took God forty years to make Moses into the man He could use. In Numbers 12:3, we read that Moses was the meekest man to have ever lived. It didn't happen overnight. It took forty years! When we met the young Moses in Egypt, there was no meekness in him-brought up in the ways of Egypt, a hothead, rush, arrogant, figured he could kill a man and go free.
It took 40 years of living as a poor shepherd with no property of his own, trudging through the desert daily, smelling of sheep, living with his father-in-law to turn him into the man God could use.
God's way is not always the easiest to understand but it can be trusted and He can be trusted. Allow Him to have His way in your life. He is making something beautiful out of you.
