Even in Canaan

One day God called Abraham and told him to relocate to an unknown land! Without questioning the God he hardly knew, Abraham took his wife, nephew, his possessions and his servants and set off. God led him to the Canaan, the Promised Land. No sooner had he settled down to enjoy life than famine occurred in the land! Ha! "Now there was a famine in the land,...the famine was severe." Genesis 12:10. "How does God bring me to a land He himself handpicked and then allow famine upon the land?" I would ask! This is supposed to be God's chosen place and knowing very well Abraham had tons of mouths to feed, He let this happen? This will mess with anyone's faith. Yes, by taking this trip Abraham demonstrated great faith and trust in God and one would expect God to reward his faith by giving Abraham plenty. Right? The famine was not an indicator that Abraham did not hear well or God did not ask him to go to Canaan. Neither did it mean that because things had not gone the way he expected, God was not with him. Listen, there is no place on earth devoid of difficulties or trials. The fact that you prayed and God gave you that child does not mean he will automatically be a perfect child! The fact that you prayed for that husband or wife does not guarantee an amazing out-of-this world marriage. Perfection only exists in Heaven. If the famine was to test Abraham's faith, then was it really necessary? After all he had moved out of his country at the sound of God's voice. Did that not demonstrate enough faith? Do you sometimes feel like you have done enough to prove your faith, your trust and your love to God? I must confess I have found myself asking Him the have-I-not-done enough question a few times. Well, His answer is always the same: "my grace is sufficient, keep going!" Argh. So yes, there will be famine in Canaan, it is still the Promised Land. Yep, there will be bumps on the road, you are still on the right track. King Saul will aim a few spears at your head, chase you into caves, you will live as a fugitive but you are still anointed! David, anyone? Stay in Canaan though, do not go down to Egypt if God has not asked you to, because the famine always ends. Blessings! Love, Lady Monica ❤
