Dust R Us
Kids can drive you up the wall sometimes. At least mine do, especially numbers two and three, Jude and Faith. They get into all manner of arguments with each other, shouting matches and needless meltdowns. Sometimes I just ignore them, knowing that in a few minutes they will be best friends again.
The provocateur is usually number two. At times I have to remind him to act his age but when the dust settles and calm is restored, I remember that he is just a child and I need to cut him some slack. Of course until the next incident. Lol.
Psalm 103 put a smile on my face this morning. The caption in my Bible reads "Praise for the Lord's mercies". It lists all the good stuff God does for His children. How He protects and preserves us, how He forgives and forgets our sins, how He heals our diseases, how He satisfies our mouths with good things. It goes on to talk about how God pities us, has mercy on us and does not deal with according to our sins or punish us according to our iniquities, "For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust." Psalms 103:14
When we do the things we are not supposed to do and do not do the things we are supposed to do; when we disobey His word; when we go astray and pierce ourselves with many sorrows; when we have been bad and we know we deserve punishment, He extends mercy! For in times like these, our Father remembers we are dust! He remembers we are just human! He recalls to mind that we are frail then He pulls back and "... crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies," Psalms 103:4 (this is a good place for another wow!).
When He should give you that well deserved smack, God rather hugs you. When He should put you on timeout, He puts His arms lovingly around you. When He should banish you from His sight, God gives you a seat next to Him. Yeah, that is how good He is.
As we humbly and thankfully receive this great gift of mercy, may the Lord give us grace to strive to be better children through the help of the Holy Spirit! Indeed great is His mercy towards us!
Love, Lady Monica ❤
