Certainty In Uncertainty

The story of how Samuel anointed David to be king of Israel has always fascinated me. Here is why. In 1 Samuel 16: 1, God spoke to the prophet Samuel, "...“How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons.” I Samuel 16:1 The prophet obeyed and proceeded to the house of Jesse. He invited his sons to attend the sacrifice with the intention of anointing one to be king. Jesse paraded all of his seven sons before Samuel. The prophet saw the first son and was ready to anoint him and the Lord stopped Samuel! God rejected all seven sons present. At this point Samuel was at a loss but still asked Jesse if he had another son by any chance. Jesse then remembered his youngest son David who was away tending sheep and sent for him. As soon as David arrived, God told Samuel "... “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!” I Samuel 16:12 God could have told Samuel upfront that David was His choice instead of making him jump through the hoops trying to figure out which of the sons He had picked! God could have told the prophet when He asked him to go to Bethlehem; He could have told him when he got to Jesse's house but He chose not to. Samuel was a great prophet and God had been speaking to him since he was merely a little boy! Many have been wondering and some even mockingly why God did not reveal the Coronavirus outbreak to any prophet. Others are wondering and asking whether God allowed the virus so as to draw us back to Him. There are more questions than answers. In these uncertain times none of us can say for certain why this is happening but He knows! He may choose to reveal it to us or not! Whether He reveals the reason to us or not we can know for certain that He knows what He is doing and we can still trust in His goodness. Through all the changing scenes of life, only God remains the same. Maybe when all this is over we will get a clear understanding why; maybe not, but God will still be God. He is our certainty in uncertainty! Blessings! Love, Lady Monica ❤
