Whitney Houston (may her soul rest in peace) was one of my favorite singers. Her voice was out of this world! The chorus of one of her songs goes like this: "Where do broken hearts go. Can they find their way home. Back to the open arms Of a love that's waiting there..."
Broken hearts and the brokenhearted on my mind today.
Psalm 34:18 says "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted ..." David knew quite a bit about being brokenhearted. He seemed to have done everything right and yet was despised but his big brother. He saved Israel and Saul from an impending crushing Philistine defeat; served Saul faithfully and obediently and yet the king wanted to kill him!
Then there was Leah. Leah had to live in the shadow of her more beautiful little sister; live with the disappointment of her father who thought the only way she could find a husband was if he tricked one into marrying her. Leah gave Jacob many sons and a daughter but he did not even notice or love her.
Are you broken over something? Are you disappointed in yourself, in someone or in life? Is your heart heavy? The Lord is closer than you think. Reach out and take comfort in Him.
"When the Lord saw that Leah was not loved, he enabled her to conceive..."Genesis 29:31
Know that the Lord sees you. He does not just see you but He hears you too and will come to your rescue! He is preparing something good for you. He is a God who acts and is getting ready to act on your behalf. Let this boost your confidence and make you smile!
