32 °F. Feels like 23
That is the weather in Massachusetts this morning. At this time of year the average high temperature is around 56°F low around 41. Today the highest we will go is 46 ten below the usual average.
What a winter we have had (still having??). Spring officially commenced on March 20th, but we have had snow storms, freezing rain, Nor'Easters since that date. When flowers should be blooming ice is covering the ground. I had planned to do some clearing up in the yard this past Monday to get rid of the twigs and other debris gifted to us by the winds. Alas! I woke up to freezing rain and no yard work happened. Of course a long winter or extended cold weather means higher heating costs.
Life also flows in seasons. Ecclesiastes 3:1 matter of factly says "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:". Just like this year's seasons, sometimes when we expect Spring we still have to endure Winter. When we are ready to plant tulips and hydrangeas, we have to still cling to our winter jackets for a while. It can be super frustrating when you are ready for your next season and God seems on no hurry to get you there.
It can be both depressing and upsetting when winter lingers way past its time and you only see clouds where the sun should be. In such a situation we have two options: the trust God or give up on Him and walk away ( to where though?).
The Bible has some encouraging words for us. Let us consider a few.
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: "With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." 2 Peter 3:8. "But I trust in you, Lord ; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hands;..." Psalm 31:14-15a. "For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay." Habakkuk 2:3
If you have committed your life to Christ, trust that God has your best interest at heart. Believe that He had good plans for you. Understand that your expectations for your life will not be cut short. Have hope that He is putting things in place for you and soon you will bring you to that place of joy, comfort, success and peace.
"As for the Lord, His way is perfect." Psalm 18:30a. Believe that!
